The loss of one mother, sister, aunt, or daughter due to gender-based violence is intolerable, yet in Canada women continue to be the targets of crime based on their gender. Within the Indigenous community the number of missing and murdered women and girls is disproportionately high. We must end the inequities within our systems and build safer communities.
